Cooperation Within BRICS Not Directed Against Dollar, Kremlin Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - BRICS, a group formed in 2006, now includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE, expanding from its original members: Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa. While Saudi Arabia has not finalized its joining process, it has been participating in meetings. Russia currently holds the rotating presidency for 2024.

It pursues the main goal of ensuring the interests of those countries that participate in this format," Peskov said, commenting on the recent reports by The Economist about the discussion of an alleged "plan to defeat the dollar" at the BRICS summit.
