With the motto "Life is a battle and each day is a step," the 2nd edition of the African Forum for Persons of Short Stature kicked off in Bamako on Monday.
It gathered participants from 12 African countries: Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, DR Congo, Guinea, Benin, Liberia, Mauritania, Niger, Ghana, Togo, and Senegal.
This five-day event, held under the patronage of the country's president Assimi Goita and former First Lady Toure Lobbo Traore, focuses on improving the social conditions of people living with disabilities, particularly those of short stature, the country’s ministry of health stated.
The forum serves as a vital platform for advocacy, exchange, and raising awareness about the need for greater inclusivity in Africa. Kady Barry, president of the forum, highlighted the importance of pushing for change and encouraging persons living with disabilities to embrace their identities and roles in society.
