The Comoros' 33-member Assembly of the Union is made up of 24 directly elected representatives and 9 representatives chosen by the island assemblies. Voting is optional for citizens aged 18 and over.

Comoros parliamentary elections are due to be held for January 12th, as per a decree published on Saturday.

The Indian Ocean archipelago of Comoros, with a population of around 800,000, last held parliamentary elections in January 2020. Current President Azali Assoumani was re-elected for another five-year term in the same month.
