Burkina Faso will gladly join BRICS if it receives an invitation, Burkinabe Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambela said on Tuesday.

"I think it depends on the Russian side. At a meeting with the Russian ambassador, I expressed our country's need and willingness to join BRICS. I told him that if we are invited, we will accept the invitation," the Burkinabe prime minister told reporters.

The bloc should decide if it wants to welcome Burkina Faso to its ranks, he added.
"And if it is so, then we will be happy to take part in this meeting [upcoming BRICS summit in Russia's Kazan]," Kyelem de Tambela said.
Then the leadership of the country will decide who will represent it at the meeting if the invitation is extended, the prime minister added.
