The world is finally recognizing Africa as the cradle of civilizations, a fact that has long been overlooked, Terry Carola, CEO and President of the Seychelles Fashion Week, told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the BRICS+ Fashion Summit.
He believes this recognition is not simply about acknowledging Africa's past but about providing the continent with the opportunity to be seen and heard on a global scale.
"For a long time, Africa should have been there. But we have been marginalized by various aspects of our history, and now it's time for Africa," Terry Carola stated.
The expert pointed out that the music and fashion industries are increasingly looking to Africa for inspiration, recognizing that the continent provides the materials and resources.
"So the fashion industry from Africa will definitely revolutionize the whole world, because now they are looking for inspirations for where they should have been looking in the first place," Carola stressed.
The second BRICS+ Fashion Summit was held in Moscow from October 3 to 5, bringing together fashion leaders from many African nations and Global South countries.
