The Comoros public prosecutor's office has closed the investigation into the death of a man who had been imprisoned after attacking the country's president, according to the local news portal Habari za Сomores.
The man, who had reportedly attacked President Azali Assoumani with a knife on September 13, was found dead in his prison cell. Following his death, an investigation was launched to determine the cause of death.
The prosecutor's office announced the closure of the investigation, citing the absence of any signs of violence on the deceased's body, identified as a 24-year-old soldier called Ahmed Abdou, according to the local news portal Habari za Сomores.
President Assoumani, who was slightly injured in the attack during the funeral of a prominent religious leader, has returned home, his office said.
