The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Monday it was carrying out massive strikes on targets of Lebanese movement Hezbollah.
"The IDF is currently conducting extensive strikes on terror targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon," the Israeli army said on Telegram.
It is still unknown what caused thousands of devices to explode simultaneously. Hezbollah and the Lebanese authorities have blamed Israel for the incident. Israeli President Isaac Herzog denied the country's involvement in the incident. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the events in Lebanon a monstrous act of terrorism and an attempt to ignite a major conflict.
The Israeli army has redeployed the 98th division, which was previously involved in the operation in the Gaza Strip, to the border with Lebanon. The Israeli Air Force is conducting massive bombing of Hezbollah facilities and missile launchers, which are ready to strike at Israel.
