Russia and South Africa agreed to arrange reciprocal tours involving two orchestras from both nations, South African Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie told Sputnik on Wednesday.
"We have already spoken with the [Russian] minister [of culture, Olga Lyubimova]. As I am speaking to you, I have just made it possible for two Russian orchestras to travel to [the city of] Cape Town and two Cape Town orchestras traveling to Russia," McKenzie said.
BRICS nations should share ideas, learn from one another, and leverage their strengths for mutual benefit as different countries have unique heritages and cultures, the South African minister said. The collaboration of great nations can lead to unprecedented achievements, he added.
Earlier in the day, McKenzie took part in the 9th BRICS culture ministers' meeting in Russia's St. Petersburg.
