Potential for Cooperation Between BRICS States on Security Far From Exhausted: Shoigu

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) - On September 10-12, the Russian city of St. Petersburg is hosting the 14th Meeting of BRICS High-Ranking Officials responsible for security matters/National Security Advisors.

The potential for cooperation between the BRICS countries on security is far from exhausted, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergey Shoigu said on Wednesday.

"The potential for BRICS security cooperation is far from exhausted," Shoigu said at the plenary session of the meeting of high representatives of the BRICS and BRICS+ countries in charge of security issues.

Additionally, the Russian official said that the erosion of the international security system is a threat to sovereign countries.
