General Abdourahamane Tiani, head of Niger's ruling National Council for the Defense of the Homeland, has appointed Dr. Oumarou Sahabi as the new Oil Minister, replacing Moustapha Mahamane Barke.
The announcement, made on national television on Saturday evening, did not reveal the reason for the reshuffle.
Dr. Sahabi previously headed the Nigerien Agency for the Promotion of Private Investment and Strategic Projects (ANPIPS).
