"Meeting of the Staff ... The most important: [Ukrainian] Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on our defensive actions on the front and our operations in the Kursk region," Zelensky said on X.
He added that he had instructed the interior ministry and the Security Service of Ukraine to prepare a "humanitarian plan" for what he described as "the area of operation" on Russian territory.
Last week, Ukrainian forces crossed the border into Russia and launched an offensive in the Kursk region. Commenting on the attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine had carried out another large-scale provocation, firing indiscriminately at civilian targets. Earlier in the day, acting regional governor Alexey Smirnov said that 28 settlements in the region had come under Ukrainian control.
