Bolivia welcomed the ruling by the UN International Court of Justice on Israel's settlement activities in Palestine and called on the international community to take measures to stop crimes being committed in the Gaza Strip, the Bolivian Foreign Ministry said.
"We call on the UN system and member states to take appropriate measures to stop the crimes being committed in the Gaza Strip and guarantee Palestine's right to self-determination," the ministry said in a statement on Friday, adding that "Bolivia welcomes the court's ruling."
On Friday, the UN court issued an advisory opinion on the legal consequences of Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories. The ICJ said that Israeli settlement activity violates international law and constitutes annexation. The court called on Israel to cease its new settlement activities and its illegal presence in the Palestinian territories and to pay reparations for the damage caused by the occupation.
