Abdelrahim Suleiman, director general of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), drew attention to the issue of Western media coverage of the events in Palestine.
"What the West is doing [media coverage of the conflict] , they are not just wrong; what they do is a shame. They always speak about democracy. Now, clearly, it’s not the case. So, we believe, as broadcasters, that we must expose them. And we always do this in our coverage, in our press releases," he told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the 24th Arab Radio and Television Festival in Tunis.
"What is happening in Palestine, I think, it is a shame for the West, the United States, and Europe, and all that," he stressed.
According to Suleiman, Western governments and media "are completely controlled by Israeli propaganda." However, he noted, "People, students, they are doing fine, and we believe they support us. We also support other countries that support this cause: Russia, South Africa, Turkey, China."
"We must all form an alliance […] The world must unite, and other countries must unite. We are finding good friends who want to do it at the ASBU," he concluded.
