Iran's Deputy Top Diplomat Says No Obstacles to Signing Russia-Iran Comprehensive Treaty

TEHRAN (Sputnik) - The content of an agreement on comprehensive cooperation between Russia and Iran is ready, and there are no obstacles to signing the agreement, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari said in an interview with Sputnik.

On Tuesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told Sputnik that Russia expects to sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Iran "in the nearest future," as the work on the text of the agreement was nearly complete.
"[Regarding] the agreement on comprehensive cooperation between Russia and Iran, I think that the content of this agreement is finished; there are no issues in this regard. I have a feeling that [it] soon will be signed by the leaders of the two states ... There are no obstacles to signing it," Safari said.
Earlier, Rudenko and acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani also confirmed at a meeting in the Iranian capital of Tehran the mutual intention of the two states to continue to expand cooperation, including in joint infrastructure projects in the transport and energy sectors, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
