Consultations on the appointment of a new cabinet commenced in South Africa.
"The President [of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa] is consulting the leaders of the [country's party, the African National Congress] ANC and the alliance, as well as parties which are signatory to the government of national unity," Ramaphosa’s spokesman, Vincent Magwenya, said.
On Thursday, ANC leaders began discussions with its alliance partners — the Congress of South African Trade Unions and the South African Communist Party.
Talks with the Democratic Alliance, the second-largest party in the government of national unity, are set for Friday.
"The government of national unity, an ANC-led initiative, ensures that no single party, whether the DA, IFP, or others, can hold our national agenda hostage," ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula posted on social networks.
On June 14, a ruling coalition, comprising the ANC, the Democratic Alliance (DA), the Patriotic Alliance (PA), and the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), was formed in South Africa. Later, other parties such as the GOOD, Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), and Freedom Front Plus (FF+) also joined the coalition.
