Chad's Prime Minister Succès Masra announced his resignation following the presidential elections in the country of May 6.
"With my own hands, in accordance with the constitution, I have today presented to the president of the transition my resignation and that of the transitional government, which has become irrelevant with the end of the presidential election of May 06, 2024, the results of which are known," he stated.
The government's resignation, in accordance with the constitution, came just over two weeks after Masra's defeat in the May 6 presidential election, which was won by General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.
Masra, who also run for the top job, 18.5% of the vote, according to the country's electoral commission.
