Honduran Ambassador to Russia Dies in Moscow, Honduran Foreign Ministry Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Honduran Ambassador to Russia Juan Ramon Elvir Salgado has died in Moscow, the Honduran Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

"The Honduran Foreign Ministry deeply regrets the death of Juan Ramon Elvir Salgado, the ambassador of Honduras to Russia," the foreign ministry said in a statement on X.
Honduran Foreign Minister Enrique Reina said that the foreign affairs department was taking measures to repatriate the deceased diplomat.

The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed Moscow's sincere condolences over the death of the ambassador, who made a great contribution to promoting cooperation between the two countries.
"He was a graduate of a Soviet university, spoke Russian, became the first ambassador of Honduras to reside in Moscow, was characterized by high professional and human qualities, and made a great contribution to the promotion of bilateral cooperation," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Russian media.
