Cooperation between Russia, China and the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation may prove critical to regional and global stability, Pakistani lawmaker Sehar Kamran told Sputnik.
"OIC, Russia, and China cooperation would be critical to address the challenges to peace and stability of the region and the world as OIC member states have friendly relations with Russia and China," Kamran said in comments on participation in the International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World" in Russia’s Kazan.
The National Assembly of Pakistan lawmaker added that Muslim countries banked on dialogue and multilateralism to strengthen global peace. She insisted that cooperative multilateralism was also key to ending the Israel-Hamas war.
Kamran praised cooperation between Russia and the Islamic world for standing the test of the Ukrainian conflict. None of IOC countries have upheld Western sanctions against Russia or adopted restrictions of their own, she pointed out.
The Russian city of Kazan, in the Muslim-majority Tatarstan region, is hosting the six-day KazanForum in cooperation with the Saudi-based IOC. The 15th edition of the forum seeks to strengthen economic, industrial, scientific, social and cultural ties between Russia and IOC nations.
