The Caucasus Biosphere Reserve is a protected area located in the Caucasus Mountains in Russia. It covers an area of 2,747 square kilometers and was established in 1978. More than 1,700 species of vascular plants grow here, every fifth of which is a relic or endemic. The reserve is working on restoring the number of rare animals (mountain bison, Eurasian leopard and others).
The reserve is also important for its role in conserving the traditional cultures and lifestyles of the indigenous peoples who live in the area. It is managed by a team of conservationists, scientists, and local community members who work together to protect the natural and cultural heritage of the region.
In addition to its conservation efforts, the reserve also promotes sustainable development in the region through ecotourism, environmental education programs, and research initiatives. Visitors to the reserve can enjoy hiking, bird-watching, and other outdoor activities while learning about the importance of protecting the unique ecosystems of the Caucasus Mountains.
