UN Says Opposes Attacks on Civilian Buildings After Ukrainian Shelling of Belgorod

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Sunday, a fragment of Ukrainian shot down Tochka-U projectile severely damaged a residential building in the Russian city of Belgorod, Russia's defense ministry reported. According to the authorities, about 20 people were injured.

The UN opposes attacks on civilian infrastructure, Deputy Spokesperson to UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, told Sputnik on Sunday, commenting on the shelling of the Russian city of Belgorod.
"We stand against any attacks on civilian buildings, anywhere," Haq said.
Earlier in the day, Belgorod Region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that a residential building partially collapsed in Belgorod after it was damaged by Ukrainian shelling, resulting in 20 people being injured, including two children.

The governor also noted that over 40 private households were damaged.
Later in the day, at least 7 dead bodies were recovered from the rubble in Belgorod, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Russian Foreign Ministry called the Sunday attack on the apartment building in Belgorod another bloody link in the chain of crimes of the Kiev regime, adding that Western sponsors are behind Zelensky’s criminal group.
