The Russian Embassy in Eritrea organized on Thursday a festive ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Victory Day.
Representatives of other diplomatic missions in the country were seen among the spectators of the festive performances. The latter included, among other things, the performance of dances and war songs. Children of embassy employees read poems.
Victory Day was celebrated at various Russian embassies in African countries, including the Central African Republic (CAR).
During the ceremony, Alexander Bikantov, Russian Ambassador to the CAR, raised the Russian state flag. The head of the Russian Ministry of Defense in the CAR, Colonel Sukhanov, as well as representatives of Russian military instructors, attended the event.
Dmitry Sytyi, director of the Russian House cultural and educational center, lit the eternal flame at the Defenders of the CAR monument. The Russian Ambassador and other attendees then put flowers at the memorial.
The traditional Immortal Regiment motor rally closed the festivity.
Moreover, Malian schoolchildren of the Russian Embassy's School in capital, Bamako, performed the Russian war songs and recited poems dedicated to the Great Patriotic War during the May 9 event at the embassy.
