Russia's Shoigu Presented New Drone Defense Arms During Consultation With Spec Op Command

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - In late April, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu was presented with promising drones and small arms at a Moscow Military District firing range.

New military equipment for drone defense has been presented to Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu during a consultation at the joint headquarters of Russian armed forces in the Ukraine conflict zone, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The Russian Defense Minister was presented the results of the modernization of standard weapons for increasing the efficiency of the fight against enemy drone and protection of personnel from FPV drones on combat contact line," the statement read.
According to video footage provided by the ministry, the new equipment includes an anti-aircraft machine gun with a novel sighting device.
The ministry quoted Shoigu as instructing the military leadership to make efforts for speeding up repairs of military equipment in the Ukraine conflict zone and expanding the reserve of spare parts.
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said later in the day that Russian plants "today are producing mighty weapons," which make Russia's enemies shiver.
"With that, the weapons that we are producing are not instead of but in addition to everything that our country needs for a prosperous life," he said on Russian social media platform VK.

Shoigu added that Russia needs to boost the volume and quality of weapons to maintain the pace of Russian advances in the special military operation zone and expand the composition of troops.
"To maintain the required pace of the offensive and ensure the build-up of the combat capability of the groups of troops for further actions, it is necessary to increase the volume and quality of weapons and military equipment supplied to the troops, primarily means of destruction," he said.
The central military leadership is conducting purposeful work for this goal, the defense minister also said.
"State contracts have been concluded with industrial enterprises provided their full capacity and the maximum reduction in production time for weapons and military equipment," he said.
