The Malian military eliminated a senior leader of the Daesh (IS) in the Greater Sahara terrorist group, Abou Houzeifa, who was wanted by the United States for his alleged role in the 2017 attack in Niger that killed American soldiers, the Malian armed forces said.

The terrorist was involved in numerous crimes against civilians and attacks on the armed forces of the Sahel countries and the troops of other countries, the statement added.
