Gabon's National Dialogue commissions recommended closure of the French military base in the country. Other recommendations include the revision of defense agreements with France and a drastic reduction in the number of new generals in the national army.
The national meeting opened on April 2, seven months after the military seized power, and will close next Tuesday.
The French base, Camp de Gaulle, is located in the African country's capital, Libreville. About 380 soldiers are stationed there.
The recommendation came several months after France completed the withdrawal of its troops from Niger on December 22. The West African country is also in discussions for the "orderly withdrawal" of US servicemen based in Niger.
