China has made it clear to the US that it bears responsibility for tensions in bilateral relations, Head of the Institute of Globalization and China's Modernization at the Chinese University of International Business and Economics, Wang Zhimin, commented on the Friday meeting of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
"Now, China-US relations are going through a complex historical period in which competition, pressure and cooperation are all present at the same time. The US sees China as its biggest rival, does not want China to be strong, and is trying to comprehensively suppress and limit China's development," Zhimin told Sputnik.
The US is the country that is wreaking havoc and causing many acute problems in the Asia-Pacific region, influencing the situation in the East China Sea, the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea, he noted.
Following the meeting with Blinken, Wang underlined that the US must refrain from meddling in China's internal affairs or hindering its growth, and it should also avoid crossing China's "red lines."
