The association of graduates of Russian universities explains to Burkinabes that Russia is a country with huge opportunities, Dione Daouda, head of the Burkinabe Association of graduates Soyuz (Union), told Sputnik.
"All the events we hold, such as this forum and the meeting with the minister, are aimed at explaining and providing information about Russia. We want everyone to realize that Russia is a big country with great opportunities in education, technology and culture," Daouda said.
Last year in the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, the First Forum of Alumni of Soviet and Russian Universities from West and Central Africa took place, organized by the Soyuz Association.
Alexey Saltykov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso, spoke at the opening of the event. The Association plans to organize a similar event this year, Daouda revealed.
"We invite associations and other organizations to speak at this meeting. These meetings are useful because they help strengthen our ties and relations with other countries, including Russia," Daouda added.
After graduating from the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering in 1993, Daouda worked on the construction of the residence of the President of Burkina Faso. He also built highways and designed bridges in several African countries, including Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, Mali, and others.
Daouda noted that many Soviet and Russian graduates have assumed high positions after graduation, among them are ministers and CEOs in various fields.
