Botswana has inaugurated a new drone assembly and testing center, the media reported.
The facility was reportedly established by the country's International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) in collaboration with Botswanan technology and investment firm Mileage Group.

"The establishment of this center has come at the very right time, and I hold a strong opinion that it will go a long way in igniting a revolution of our economic and industrial pursuits as a nation," Botswana's Vice President Slumber Tsogwane was quoted by the media as saying at the opening ceremony.

He added that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) play a key role in the decision-making process in various sectors, including healthcare, transportation, infrastructure development, disaster response, agriculture, and tourism, the report said.
As for the military drones industry in Africa, South Africa has long been establishing itself as a key player in this sector.
