The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has said that 26 of its staffers have been killed since the start of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, including 15 who were targeted while wearing the PRCS emblem.
"Since the beginning of the war on Gaza, we have lost 26 members of our teams, including 15 who were targeted by the occupation [Israeli forces] while performing their humanitarian duties and wearing the protected Red Crescent emblem," the PRCS wrote on X late on Friday.
On March 23, the PRCS said that a total of 364 doctors, nurses and paramedics had been killed in Gaza since the onset of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalation.
On October 7, 2023, Palestinian movement Hamas launched a large-scale rocket attack against Israel and breached the border, attacking both civilian neighborhoods and military bases. Nearly 1,200 people in Israel were killed, and some 240 others abducted during the attack.
Israel launched retaliatory strikes, ordered a complete blockade of Gaza, and started a ground incursion into the Palestinian enclave with the declared goal of eliminating Hamas fighters and rescuing the hostages. Over 32,600 people have been killed so far in the Gaza Strip, local authorities say.
