Top Tanzanian diplomat January Yusuf Makamba strongly condemned the "barbaric" terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue near Moscow in a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The Tanzanian foreign minister strongly condemned the barbaric terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall, expressed deep condolences and asked to convey words of support and sympathy to the families of those killed, and wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured," the ministry said.
During the phone conversation, the two top diplomats discussed strengthening ties between Russia and Tanzania and confirmed their mutual willingness to further develop Russian-Tanzanian cooperation in various fields, the statement read.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said at least 143 people were killed, and 360 others were injured as a result of the attack.
The four main suspects in the case — all citizens of Tajikistan — were detained and charged with terrorism. Russian investigators said earlier on Thursday they had found evidence linking the suspected attackers to Ukrainian nationalists.
The Moscow suburb concert hall terrorist attack is the deadliest in Russia in nearly 20 years.
