Moscow cannot rule out Ukraine possibly receiving benefits from the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"The West is suspiciously actively convincing us, not only publicly, but also in contacts through our diplomatic missions, that Ukraine should not be suspected. Without explaining why. Although from the point of view of general logic, answering the question of who benefits from this, we cannot rule out Ukraine," Lavrov told Russia’s Izvestia newspaper.
The West is actively trying to convince everyone that this is the work of Daesh* and no one else should be suspected, the minister added.
"They constantly directly speak about this country [Ukraine] and its non-involvement. It is becoming obsessive," Lavrov said.
On Tuesday, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov said the first information received from suspects in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack proves a Ukrainian trace.
Four perpetrators of the attack were detained in the Bryansk region, near the border with Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that they were trying to escape and were moving toward Ukraine, where the Ukrainian side had prepared a "window" for them to cross the border.
