The Tunisian government on Tuesday signed a €250 million ($271 million) contract with Chinese engineering firm Sichuan Road and Bridge Group (SRBG) to build a bridge in the Mediterranean city of Bizerte.
The project will be financed by loans from the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Strategically located between Lake Bizerte and the Mediterranean Sea, the new bridge, which is expected to be 2.07 kilometers long and 56 meters high, will support economic activity in the region by facilitating access to the city's port and boosting local development.
