During the conversation, the Malian leader also strongly condemned last Friday's terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall near Moscow and expressed his deep condolences to the Russians, according to the Kremlin statement.
"They [the two leaders] discussed further steps to strengthen Russian-Malian ties in various areas, including the implementation of joint projects in the energy, agriculture, and mining fields," the Kremlin said.
In addition, Presidents Putin and Goita exchanged views in the context of the turbulent situation in the Sahel region and agreed to intensify practical cooperation on counterterrorism, the statement read.
During the talks, Goita also expressed gratitude to the Russian president for free of charge supplies of wheat, fertilizers and fuel, the Kremlin said.
