Sudan is counting on a visit by the country's leadership to Russia and high-level negotiations in the near future, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Al-Sadiq Ali told Sputnik.
"We have established contacts and coordination between our and Russian leadership. We strive to make a visit in the near future at the level of either heads of state or foreign ministers," the minister said on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Since April 2023, Sudan has been suffering from fierce confrontations between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
Since then, the warring parties have declared a number of temporary nationwide ceasefires, but none have helped to resolve the conflict.
The UN recently revealed that nearly 14,000 people had been killed and about 27,700 injured in the conflict. The International Committee of the Red Cross warned earlier that continued hostilities could lead to disease epidemics and a catastrophic collapse of the health infrastructure.
