South African lawyers are preparing a lawsuit against the United States and the United Kingdom, accusing them of complicity in Israel's alleged war crimes in Gaza, media reported.
"The United States must now be held accountable for the crimes it committed. [...] The US is busy spending more money and more resources to [allow Israel] to commit the crime. No one says stop, enough is enough," the lawyer was quoted by media as saying.
Over the past few weeks, South African lawyer Wikus Van Rensburg, who is leading the initiative, has been actively corresponding with various countries and the International Court of Justice (ICJ), expressing his strong demand for the prosecution of Israel and its supporters, reports said.
Around 50 South African lawyers reportedly joined Rensburg as the world watches the progress of hearings on South Africa's ICJ case against Israel, filed on December 29.
On Monday, Palestinian Minister of Justice Mohammad Al-Shalaldeh, told Sputnik that South Africa collected "convincing evidence" on the case and the country's position in the ICJ is "very strong."
