Ghana's Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Sunday inaugurated a sports complex in Nalerigu, the capital of the North East Region.
This remarkable facility, the first of its kind in Nalerigu and its environs, was personally funded and built by Dr. Bawumia, an economist and former central banker, to meet the recreational and sports development needs of the local youth.
Named in honor of the late Mamprugu Regional Chief, Naa Sheriga Abdulai, the complex will also host social events.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including the Minister of Sports, Mustapha Ussif, other government officials and senior members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The event was also graced by the presence of former players of Ghana's esteemed national football team, the Black Stars, such as Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, Asamoah Gyan and Emmanuel Armah.
These iconic figures joined local players in a special football match, showcasing their skills and evoking nostalgia for their illustrious days with the Black Stars. Their performance on the pitch captivated the cheering crowd and painted a vibrant picture of unity and celebration.
