Death Toll in Russia's Belgorod Reaches 24, Region Governor Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Saturday, the center of the Russian city of Belgorod was subjected to the Ukrainian armed forces strike, which resulted in the deaths of civilians, including children. Around 40 civilian sites were damaged due to the shelling, according to emergency services.

The number of people killed in the Ukrainian armed forces’ strike on the Russian city of Belgorod has risen to 24, including three children, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

Out of the 109 wounded people, 25 in serious condition are about to be transported to federal hospitals, the governor added.
Ukraine shelled the central part of Belgorod on Saturday afternoon. The Russian Defense Ministry said that Czech-made Vampire rockets and missiles with cluster munitions were fired at the city. Air defense systems intercepted most of the targets, but several projectiles and cluster parts from downed missiles fell on Belgorod.
Following the shelling, Russia requested a meeting in the United Nations Security Council regarding the attack on Belgorod. Moscow has reports of UK and US consultants being engaged in organizing the attacks on Russia's Belgorod, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia stated during the council.
