The Republic of the Congo remains committed to OPEC, said Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons, Bruno Jean-Richard Itoua, a few days after Angola announced its withdrawal from the oil producers' organization.
"The Republic of Congo reaffirms its steadfast commitment to the strategic policy defined by the Secretary-General of OPEC and OPEC+. We strongly support the efforts to stabilize and promote sustainable development of the oil markets, a crucial approach for the future of our sector and the global economy," Jean-Richard Itoua noted in a statement.
He added that the nation highlights "the remarkable harmony" prevailing among the members of the OPEC and OPEC+ Ministerial Conference.
Nigeria also reaffirmed its commitment to OPEC on Friday, when the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, said his country's position remained unwavering.
The Republic of the Congo, which became a full member of OPEC in 2018, has set an oil production target of 277,000 barrels per day for 2024.
