On Wednesday, the Senate blocked legislation to advance US President Joe Biden's $110 billion supplemental bill that includes $61 billion in aid to Ukraine over concerns it does not include "credible" measures to address the crisis on the US southern border.
"Look, we have, you know, budgetary standpoint, we have about a billion dollars left to replenish our own stockpile. So this comes down to a policy decision," Young told CBS when asked when the US funding for Ukraine would be exhausted.
The official urged Congress to approve Biden's bill, saying that the majority of funding for aid to Ukraine "stays at home."
"Our defense industrial base gets the majority of this funding to build more equipment, weapons, ammunition, that means American jobs, good paying American jobs," Young added.
Earlier in the week, the White House warned lawmakers that funding for Ukraine would run out by the end of the year.
