US President Joe Biden met with his Angolan counterpart Joao Lourenco in the Oval Office and said he would visit Angola again, according to a White House pool report.
"I have been there [in Angola] and I will be back," the report cited Biden as saying on Thursday.
Lourencio told Biden that he would invite him to visit Luanda and will discuss the possible dates of the visit, the report said.
Moreover, next year both countries will engage in a high-level dialogue to discuss various potential agreements, a senior Biden administration official said.
"We are going to have a high-level dialogue in 2024," the official said during a press briefing.
The official made the comment in response to a question regarding the upcoming US-Angola defense cooperation agreement, which is scheduled to be signed in 2024.
The official said the two countries will discuss various agreements such as enhancing security, military-to-military exchanges as well as education and English language capacity.
"There's really a lot of excitement about the ways in which we can work more closely with the Angolan security issues," the official added.
Earlier on Thursday, Biden hosted Lourenco to mark three decades of diplomatic relations between the United Sates and Angola and to discuss plans to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, climate and energy.
