Putin Congratulates Argentina's Milei on Election Victory

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday congratulated Argentina's President-elect Javier Milei, adding that Moscow counts on further development of partnership with Buenos Aires, the Kremlin said.

On Sunday, far-right politician Milei of La Libertad Avanza alliance won the runoff of the presidential election in Argentina, defeating the candidate of the ruling Union for the Homeland alliance, Minister of Economy Sergio Massa. Milei will take office on December 10.

"Please accept congratulations on your election to the presidency. Russian-Argentine relations are based on the good traditions of friendship and mutual respect. We look forward to the further development of strategic partnership with Buenos Aires in a variety of areas, as well as constructive dialogue on current international issues," the Kremlin said in a statement.

Javier Milei Wins Presidential Election in Argentina
The Argentine, Javier Milei, is an economist and politician. In 2021, he entered politics and was elected as a national deputy representing the city of Buenos Aires by the political coalition La Libertad Avanza.
