WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - The number of attacks against US forces based in Iraq and Syria increased to 38 over the last several days, Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters.

Since late October, when the United States conducted a series of “self-defense” strikes in Syria, its bases have experienced a significant increase in attacks.
"Since October 17th Eastern Time, we've had 20 attacks in Iraq, 18 in Syria, a total of 38 of these...harassing attacks of drones and rockets," Ryder said on Monday.
The number of injured US troops from these attacks in Iraq and Syria increased to 45 in total, Ryder added.
The injuries are a mix of minor injuries and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), according to Ryder.
Moreover, Ryder said the deployment of an Ohio-class submarine to the Middle East is meant to further support US deterrence efforts in the region.
