US Sanctions Part of Policy Aimed at Inflicting Strategic Defeat on Moscow: Russian Foreign Ministry

In 2022, Russia became the most sanctioned country in the world, with more than 15,000 sanctions imposed by the US and its allies over the past year and a half. Besides Russian officials, the restrictions target the country's exports of energy, food and fertilizer, as well as imports of high-tech products and various manufactured goods.

The new US sanctions against Russia are a continuation of Washington's policy of inflicting strategic defeat on Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday.
On Thursday, the United States imposed new Russia-related sanctions on 37 individuals and 192 entities for their alleged role in "harmful activities" of the Russian government.
"[It is a] continuation of the policy of inflicting, as they formulate it, a strategic defeat on us. Every year something new is invented by them — either deterrence, or something else, now — a strategic defeat. This will never happen," Zakharova told the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
