Mauritanians took to the streets on Friday in front of the US Embassy in Nouakchott to protest against the intensified attacks unleashed by Israel on the Gaza Strip.
Protesters shouted out that it is the United States that bears responsibility for perpetuating Israel's assaults on Gaza, media reported.
Last week, The Al-Ahly Hospital in Gaza was hit by a rocket. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 471 people were killed, most of them women and children. Hamas said the attack was carried out by Israeli planes, and the Israel Defense Forces in turn stated that a rocket launched unsuccessfully by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group hit the hospital.
Several countries, including Russia, Venezuela, France, Qatar, Egypt, and Greece, have expressed outrage and condemning the targeting of civilian infrastructure.
On October 7, Israel was hit by an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip and Hamas troops infiltrated the border areas. In response, the Israeli government launched a large-scale operation in response, announced that it had invoked Article 40 of the Basic Law, which means that the country is officially in a state of war, and ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, cutting off supplies of water, food and fuel.
Since the beginning of the escalation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, there have been more than 8,000 deaths on both sides, with more than 7,000 deaths in the Gaza Strip alone.
