Western special services are preparing Ukrainian combat sabotage and terrorist groups to attack Russian nuclear power facilities, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin told reporters.
"Western special services are training Ukrainian combat sabotage and terrorist groups to attack nuclear power facilities in the Russian Federation. This has been established. Such acts, of course, were prevented by our special services [...] There were attempts to damage Kursk, Smolensk and Zaporozhye nuclear power plants," he told reporters on the sidelines of the 53th session of the CIS Council of the Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services.
Fighting Terrorism
On the other hand, Russian and Western intelligence services keep cooperating in the fight against international terrorism despite the tense political environment, although the scale of bilateral contacts has been reduced dramatically, Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergey Naryshkin said on Wednesday.
"In previous years, cooperation with Western services in fighting international terrorism was significant. The contacts remain, but the scale of cooperation has declined significantly," Naryshkin told reporters
The reduction in bilateral interaction has been caused by the aggressive policy of NATO states against Russia, including through the use of Ukraine as a proxy, he added.
