France will start an operation to withdraw its troops from Niger this week, AFP reported on Thursday, citing the chief of staff of the French armed forces.
The operation will be carried out in coordination with Niger, the news agency added.
Nigerien Interior Minister Mohamed Toumba said on Tuesday that the country's government had approved French President Emmanuel Macron's proposed deadline for the final withdrawal of French troops from the country.
After July's military coup in Niger, the new authorities demanded the withdrawal of 1,500 French soldiers and also asked the French ambassador to leave the West African country. Since early September 2, anti-French demonstrations have been held in the country's capital.
