Russian Navy to Receive 12 Vessels by End of 2023: Defense Minister

VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) – On July 30, the main parade of the Russian Navy was held in Russian city of St. Petersburg. More than 3,000 sailors, 33 surface ships and 4 submarines participated. During the parade, Vladimir Putin highlighted the power of the Russian navy, which he hopes will continue to strengthen.

The Russian Navy will receive 12 vessels by the end of 2023, among them there will be surface and underwater ships, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Friday.
"This year, two ships have already been commissioned, and 12 more will arrive by the end of the year. Among them are the Admiral Golovko frigate, the Emperor Alexander III strategic missile submarine, and the Krasnoyarsk nuclear submarine cruiser," Shoigu said at a meeting at the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet of Russia.
The head of the Ministry of Defense noted that over the past ten years the Russian Navy has been replenished with more than 50 ships.

On Friday, the minister held a working visit to the Primorsky Territory. He checked the implementation of the government order in the defense sphere at the Far Eastern Zvezda plant in Bolshoy Kamen and at the Progress helicopter plant in Arsenyev. After this, the minister went to the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet to hold a meeting on the results of work at enterprises of the military-industrial complex in the Far Eastern region of Russia.
