Russian air defense forces have shot down a Ukrainian drone over the Belgorod region, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.
"On September 11, at about 13:00 Moscow time [10:00 GMT], an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by a fixed wing UAV on objects on the territory of Russia was stopped. On-duty air defense systems destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle over the territory of the Belgorod Region," the ministry said in a statement.
Two more Ukrainian drones were downed over the Belgorod region in the early hours of Monday, the authorities noted.
Russia's Security Council said on Sunday that more than 70 major terrorist attacks have been prevented in Russia, including on energy facilities, military and civilian aircraft since the start of the special operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
Earlier, the Kremlin commented on the Kiev regime's systematic attempts to attack Russian territory with drones, saying that Russian forces will keep conducting a special operation to eliminate such threats.
The Kremlin spokesman Peskov emphasized that Russia's armed forces, air defense and security services are improving methods of combating drones.
