Russian air defense systems have shot down a Ukrainian aircraft-type drone over Crimea, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
"On the morning of September 5, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type UAV on objects on the territory of Russia was thwarted. The unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed over the territory of the Republic of Crimea by air defense on duty," the ministry said in a statement.
The attempted terrorist attack comes as earlier Russian forces thwarted Ukraine's attempt to commit another terrorist attack using a drone.
"On September 5, at around 3 a.m. Moscow time [00:00 GMT], an attempt by the Kiev regime to commit a terrorist attack using an aircraft-type drone against objects on the Russian territory was thwarted. Air defense forces destroyed the drone over the territory of the Kaluga Region," the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
Ukraine has been sending drones into Russian territory almost daily since Kiev launched its counteroffensive in early June.
Moscow has been constantly warning that it won't leave unanswered Kiev's attacks on civilian objects in Russia.
The United Nations said in August that it did not want to see any targeting of civilian infrastructure.
