Niger to Allow Deployment of Malian, Burkinabe Forces in Event of Aggression, Reports Say

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The coup leaders in Niger will allow Mali and Burkina Faso to deploy forces to its territory in the event of military aggression against Niger, media reported Thursday, citing rebels' statement.

Nigerien media reported earlier in the day Niger's new Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine and new ruler Gen. Abdourahamane Tchiani received Malian Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop and Economy Minister Alousseini Sanou and the Burkinabe delegation, represented by Foreign Minister Olivia Rouamba and Minister Delegate for African Integration and Burkinabes Abroad Jean Marie Karamoko Traore, in the country's capital, Niamey.
French media reported, citing a statement read out by the deputy secretary general of Niger's foreign ministry, that the delegations welcomed the signing of orders allowing Malian and Burkinabe forces "to intervene on Niger territory in the event of aggression."
