Algeria and Nigeria have agreed on the need to coordinate efforts on finding a political and peaceful solution to the current crisis in Niger, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf said on Thursday.
"First of all, an agreement has been reached on the need to coordinate the efforts of the two countries in order to strengthen international and regional momentum on a political and peaceful solution to the current crisis in Niger," Attaf said in a statement released by the ministry.
On Wednesday, the Algerian Foreign Ministry said that Attaf would visit three countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) — Nigeria, Benin and Ghana — to discuss the situation in Niger.
